Child Development Laboratory

The University of Idaho Child Development Laboratory serves 3 to 5-year-old children and provides a research and learning setting for U of I students and faculty.

Our mission is to provide a high quality, developmentally appropriate program for young children and their families. Staff members plan and carry out activities that encourage children's growth and development.

Please view the topics below for more information:

The Child Development Laboratory is accredited by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs, a division of the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

NAEYC Academy for Early Childhood Program Accreditation sets and monitors standards for high quality programs for young children and accredits programs that meet these standards — the mark of quality in early childhood education.

  • Children must be age three (3) by Oct. 1 of the enrollment year.
  • Children must be no older than age four (4) on Sept. 1 of enrollment year.

Please note: for the 2019-2020 school year, the Child Development Laboratory will only have a morning session.

  • The morning class meets Monday-Friday from 8:30–11 a.m. (10:50 a.m. departure).
  • The afternoon class meets on Monday-Friday from 1–3:30 p.m. (3:20 p.m. departure).

  • A $75 non-refundable enrollment fee is required when families are notified that their child is accepted for enrollment.
  • Cost for fall semester is $800 and the spring semester is $850. These fees are separate from the $75 enrollment fee that is paid by families upon acceptance to the program each school year.

I understand that by enrolling my child and family in the University of Idaho Child Development Laboratory, I am agreeing to participate in activities of the laboratory. These include my child's activities and participation in parent program activities.
