About Us

In 1997, the Jacklin Land Development Company of Post Falls, Idaho, gave 28 acres of prime real estate to the University of Idaho Foundation for the creation of the U of I Research Park. In 2002, the first building was completed and an additional four acres were transferred to the university. The Research Park was designed to link the university and business and commercial uses, physically and programmatically.

The Research Park is the university’s representative to the northern Idaho economic and community development activities. Research Park staff members promote sustainability and growth in the region through participation in area events and membership in the Post Falls Chamber of Commerce. Staff, faculty and researchers play active roles in community development through tours and demonstrations, as well as by their visits to area high schools to get students excited about the fields of science, engineering and technology.

U of I is a leading national research university that attracts outstanding faculty and students who are passionate about their work.

At the U of I, scholarly and creative activity generates knowledge, which strengthens the scientific, economic, cultural, social and legal foundations of an open, diverse and democratic society. The university’s goal is to achieve excellence in scholarship and creative activity through an institutional culture that values and promotes academic excellence and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The Research Park plays a critical role in this mission through its partnerships with businesses, faculty and students, as well as through its state-of-the-art laboratories, computer labs and classrooms for use by both the university and the community.

The Research Park’s classrooms are also available for use by specialty industry engineering classes designed and conducted by regional companies. North Idaho College and the U of I have a reciprocal use agreement with their classrooms, and TechHelp, the statewide engineering assistance program, offers regular classes on topical issues.
