History (Ph.D.)
Building Society’s Knowledge of the Past
The History Ph.D. program includes major fields in United States History before 1780 and after (specializing in visual culture), pre-modern and modern Europe and Latin America. The Department of History offers a wide range of historical expertise, both geographic and topical/methodological. Graduate students may find mentoring in various geographic areas (the United States, Europe, Latin America, Atlantic World) and thematic areas (e.g., gender history, science/health/environment, North American West history, comparative/global history).
