Austin graduated from Pacific Lutheran University with a degree in Music Education in 2018. Austin has studied with prolific saxophonists Erik Steighner, the late Fred Hemke, and Idit Shner. In 2016, Austin won PLU’s concerto competition and performed as a soloist with the school’s wind ensemble. Since graduating, Austin has taught as a first-grade teacher and a general music teacher. While teaching, he continued performing with the Seattle Wind Symphony, the Washington Wind Symphony, and the South Sound Symphonic Band. Austin is pursuing a master's degree in saxophone performance from the University of Idaho with an emphasis in music theory.
