Megumi (pronounced “MEH-guh-me”) studied the flute with Dr. Hal Ott at Central Washington University and graduated in 2018 with a B.M. in Music Performance. She is now attending the University of Idaho to pursue a master’s in music performance, studying with Dr. Leonard Garrison.
Megumi’s musical interests revolve around 20th and 21st century music, especially solo flute music. Since her undergraduate years, she has been studying and researching electroacoustic music for the flute and has performed two recitals centered on electroacoustic pieces. She also enjoys collaborating with new composers and performing their music. Megumi’s other interests extend to electronic composition, chamber music, philosophy, epistemology, psychology, and guinea pigs.
As a graduate assistant, she teaches the MUSA 114 flute lessons and assists with the marketing of the Auditorium Chamber Music Series (ACMS).
