In February 1983, a scholarship endowment was established to memorialize Frank Pitkin's many years of service to the University of Idaho. Frank served as nursery manager from 1939 to 1979, managed the UI Experimental Forest from 1972 to 1979, oversaw the first student logging crews, and is responsible for "The Snag," the 90 foot whitebark pine that extends from the basement to the top floor of the College of Natural Resources building.
The intent of this scholarship is to help students interested in nursery and greenhouse management or forest regeneration by providing financial support and hands-on training. Currently, the endowment offers up to $1,250 per semester to qualifying students. If you would like more information about this scholarship, email Andrew Nelson.
