Dates and Deadlines

Congratulations on getting close to completing your graduate degree at the University of Idaho. Please note our dates and deadlines below to ensure you graduate on time.

In addition to meeting these deadlines, you will need to have an approved Major Professor, committee (for Thesis and Dissertation students), and study plan in VandalWeb. Doctoral students will also need to have submitted their Preliminary Examination and Advancement to Candidacy form. All students will also need to apply to graduate on VandalWeb.

If you are unsure that you have met these requirements, click on "Check Registration Status" in VandalWeb to ensure the information listed is correct. If you have any questions or concerns, please call 208-885-2647, or email cogs@uidaho.edu and we will be happy to help.

Please check with your department or college as they may have earlier deadlines than COGS.

Important Dates

Application deadlines for each academic program can be found on the application information page. Many programs have recommended dates and deadlines earlier than those listed below or have a rolling admission process.

If a program has an earlier deadline that the College of Graduate Studies dates, the earlier deadlines take precedence. If you apply after these dates, you may not receive full consideration for any financial support and you risk the program being at capacity.

If the academic program you are interested in does not have a deadline then please assume these dates are the deadlines.

Recommended Submission Dates for full consideration of financial support or assistantships

  • Fall semester (August to December) - Feb. 1

  • Spring semester (January to May) - Sept. 1

  • Summer session (Begins mid May) - Feb. 1

Applicants applying after these dates should check with the departmental contact before applying to determine if assistantships are still available.

College of Graduate Studies Semester Application Deadlines

Domestic Students

  • Fall semester (August to December) - July 15
  • Spring semester (January to May) - Dec. 1
