Sport Clubs
Club Information
Membership is limited to University of Idaho full and part-time students, staff and faculty only. All students, staff and faculty must have a valid VandalCard.
To join or establish a new sport club, contact the Sport Club office at (208) 885-6381 or stop in the Campus Recreation Office in the Student Recreation Center.
Sport clubs fill the void between Intramural sports and varsity athletics. In most cases, a club team competes at a high, experienced level, similar to varsity sports.
Some clubs require previous experience due to the intense level of play. However, many clubs welcome walk-ons at all levels of experience.
Practice schedules vary by club. Most practice 2-3 times a week for about two hours per practice. The number of practices a member must attend is determined by each club.
Clubs are partially funded through Campus Recreation. Some clubs charge membership dues to help supplement operational costs.
As a general rule, members are required to purchase equipment that's personal, specialized and sized or fitted — including skis, skates, baseball gloves, livestock, etc. Typically, clubs will purchase jerseys/uniforms and minor equipment with club funds from the university.
Sport clubs are organized by university students, faculty and staff for the purpose of furthering a common interest in sport through intercollegiate participation and competition.
Interested in joining or establishing a club? Contact the Sport Club Office at (208) 885-6381 or visit the Campus Recreation Office to fill out an interest form.
