CDAR COVID-19 Protocols
All faculty, staff, students and visitors across all U of I locations must use face coverings whenever in any U of I building, including during class. Students with a medical condition that is believed to affect their ability to comply with the face covering policy should complete a CDAR Application with medical documentation to request a reasonable accommodation. Documentation should be on letterhead from a licensed professional, include the individual's diagnosis and functional limitations that limit the ability to comply with the face covering policy.
Students requesting accommodations due to a medical condition must complete the interactive process. The interactive process is a term used to describe the procedure for identifying need for accommodations due to disability/medical condition. This process is composed of the CDAR application, meeting with CDAR professional, and the submission and review of medical documentation related to the disability/condition. Completing the interactive process does not guarantee accommodations will be granted.
Students with a documented disability or medical condition that may put them at a greater risk of COVID-19, as identified by the CDC, should fill out a CDAR Application and provide medical documentation of the condition and concern to initiate the interactive process. Students currently registered with CDAR needing to change or add accommodations due to COVID-19 should call 208-885-6307 to schedule a meeting with a CDAR professional. Additional documentation may be necessary.
Students without a documented disability or medical condition requesting accommodations for reasons related to COVID-19 should email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 208-885-6307 and we can provide information or referral to who best to address your specific situation or concern. Students can also email email@example.com for general questions about the University resources related to COVID-19.
Accommodations During COVID-19 FAQ
Yes. Students will still receive accommodations while University classes are moved online. CDAR anticipates that many students will need to change their accommodations due to the structure of classes being changed. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 208-885-6307 as soon as you become aware you need to change accommodations.
Students are encouraged to remind instructors to extend time for any timed exams in BBLearn. Note: Extended time does not apply to take-home exams.
CDAR Testing Services is closed for in person proctoring until further notice. Some exams may have been changed to alternate formats, which include take-home exams, online exams, etc. Students with accommodations that do not transfer well to these formats should email email@example.com with questions or concerns at least seven days prior to an exam.
CDAR Assistive Technology is here to help as students' use of technology changes. The CDAR Assistive Technology Page will be updated with resources as they become available.
ITS has Chromebooks and iPads available for check-out on the Moscow campus. Please consider your proximity to internet access when determining your plans for participating in classes. The Moscow campus, as well as sites across the state, will remain open for support.
Zoom is available as a mobile app. Students that know they will be using Zoom on their phone should install the app prior to entering the Zoom meeting. ITS has Zoom instructions posted. CDAR is writing additional Zoom instructions and will have them posted on the CDAR Assistive Technology Page.

Students with an alternate format textbook accommodation should contact email@example.com should any material in BBLearn not be compatible with their reading software.
Many textbook publishers are offering digital books for free or low cost due to schools moving online. Students relying on the Library for textbooks should email firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance.
Notetaking services will remain largely unchanged. Instructors have been contacted to ensure notetakers have access to the same material as the students receiving the notes. Should you not need notes due to changes in the materials the instructors provide, please contact email@example.com.
Instructors are able to review accommodation information through the CDAR Instructor Portal. Instructions on using the CDAR Instructor Portal as well as other resources can be found on our Faculty page.
Instructors with questions pertaining to BBLearn should contact the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.
Faculty and Staff with medical conditions or other risk factors should fill out this online form to begin the process of working with Human Resources to establish a flexplace plan.
Instructors wishing to teach remotely should work with their Dean to determine the appropriate steps.
