Dylan Hodgson

Dylan Hodgson

U.S. Army '11-'16
B.S. Forestry '20

"The Operation Education Scholarship has helped me achieve my education goals by not only providing me with financial help but by motivating me to complete my goals because of the people that have given me this scholarship opportunity. Knowing others believe in your dreams and want to help you fulfill them is the greatest motivation someone can ask for."

Dylan joined the Army and left for training just two weeks after graduating from Post Falls high school in northern Idaho. He enlisted as a CH-47 helicopter repairer and was stationed at Camp Humphreys in South Korea immediately following his initial entry training. Following his year in Korea he was sent to Fort Hood, Texas for six months before deploying to Afghanistan. He served his time in Afghanistan as a CH-47F model crew chief in support of numerous Ranger battalions and a few Special Forces Groups. Some of his best memories come from that deployment and the friends that he made on it. After completing the deployment he returned to Texas where he spent the remainder of his military career. After separating from the Army Dylan came back home to Post Falls to help his dad with his logging business before he made the decision to continue his education. He started school here at the University of Idaho in the fall of 2017 and is actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Forestry. Dylan plans to graduate in December of 2020.
