Work for Department of Student Involvement

Student Coordinators are responsible for the general administration, development, promotion and implementation of programs hosted by the Department of Student Involvement. Student Coordinators provide resources and assistance that help to make the University of Idaho a rich and vibrant campus by providing programs and support for over 200 student organizations, orchestrating multiple volunteer programs and organizing campus wide leadership and entertainment opportunities.

This position is for students who have accepted Work Study as part of their financial aid packages. Please reach out to the Office of Financial Aid with questions regarding the Work Study Program and any scholarship/loan questions.

Overview of Position:

  • Three Office Assistants will be hired to work for the academic year of 2020-2021.
  • Hours worked will usually be 10 per week depending on amount of work available and availability of your remaining work study funds.
  • 10% of hours will be evenings and weekends, 90% of hours will be 8 a.m. through 5 p.m.
  • This position will report to the Administrative Assistant.
  • Starting pay is $9.75/hour for new employees, and $10/hour for returning employees.

Office Assistants conduct a wide range of administrative support functions such as supporting the Administrative Coordinator in the completion of duties related to the day to day business of the department and performing work related to all the units, including but not limited to: Vandal Entertainment, ASUI and Center for Volunteerism and Social Action.

  • Hours worked will usually be 10 per week depending on amount of work available and availability of your remaining work study funds. During busy season, hours may increase to 15 per week. Busy season is the start of both semesters, Sept. through Oct. and Jan. through Feb., as well as Apr. During slow season, your hours may drop to 0-5 per week. Slow season is end of Nov. through Dec. and Mar. and May.
  • 30% of hours will be evenings and weekends, 70% of hours will be 8 a.m. through 5 p.m.
  • This position will report to the Assistant Director.
  • Starting pay is $9.75/hour for new employees, and $10/hour for returning employees.

Job Duties:

  • Provide excellent customer service and regularly communicate with our 200+ student organizations by email, phone and our Engage UIdaho platform.
  • Complete office support tasks as assigned.
  • Provide guidance to student organizations, their officers and advisors.
  • Support and facilitate student organizations' operations, training and annual Fall Renewal process.
  • Maintain, utilize and regularly promote our platform Engage UIdaho, Corq App and DSI programs.
  • Attend University of Idaho recruitment events or classroom visits to promote DSI to potential and current students.
  • Assist with implementing and evaluating leadership programs and leadership educational opportunities for students.
  • Promote all leadership and student organization program opportunities, as well as other involvement activities to students.
  • Assist with organizing the Get Involved Fairs and other DSI events as assigned.
  • Participate in one-on-one meetings with supervisor, the monthly student coordinator meetings and any other required professional development training.

  • Generally hours worked will usually be 10-15 per week depending on funds available.
  • 20% of hours will be evenings and weekends, 80% of hours will be 8 a.m. through 5 p.m.
  • This position will report to the Program Coordinator for the Center for Volunteerism and Social Action.
  • Starting pay is $9.75/hour for new employees, and $10/hour for returning employees.

Job Duties:

  • Planning and executing programming for days of service: Make a Difference Day, MLK Jr. Day of Service and Saturday of Service.
  • Maintaining and updating the GivePulse volunteer database.
  • Serving as liaison between the Center for Volunteerism and Social Action, U of I students and our community partners.
  • Visiting sites, assessing agencies, volunteer needs, maintaining regular contact with the agencies, and recruiting new community partners for student volunteers.
  • Planning, recruiting, budgeting, marketing, executing and assessing events.
  • Completing administrative assistant tasks as assigned.
  • Attending UI recruitment events or classroom visits to promote DSI to potential and current students.
  • Participating in one-on-one meetings with the supervisor, the monthly student coordinator meetings, as well as any other required professional development training.
