Vandals for Recovery

Vandals for Recovery, U of I’s Collegiate Recovery Community, supports and advocates for students in recovery and students seeking recovery from substance misuse as they pursue their academic goals.
Recovery is a process of change through which individuals improve their health and wellness, live a self-directed life, and strive to reach their full potential - Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration

Vandals for Recovery, U of I’s Collegiate Recovery Community, supports and advocates for students in and seeking recovery from substance misuse as they pursue their academic goals.

This program provides a safe, recovery-supportive, nonjudgmental space for students in recovery to find a community of like-minded peers and engage in educational and sober social opportunities on and off campus as they maintain their recovery. Any student who identifies as being in recovery from substance misuse may join this group.

For more information, email aod@uidaho.edu.

Our Mission

Vandals for Recovery is dedicated to supporting all students in or seeking recovery from substance misuse by empowering them to make recovery-supportive decisions about their health and well-being and raising awareness of and normalizing recovery in our campus community.

Additional Campus and Community Recovery Resources

The University of Idaho Counseling & Testing Center (CTC) offers free and confidential counseling to students, including counseling related to substance misuse. The CTC is located in Mary Forney Hall Room 306 on Blake Avenue. Contact the office at 208-885-6716.

The CTC also offers virtual group counseling sessions, which provide a safe, confidential environment where you can learn about yourself and others. Visit the CTC's Group Counseling website to learn more and view current group offerings.

Please note: As of March 23, 2020, the Counseling and Testing Center is no longer offering in-person visits. All services will be via remote appointments (i.e., Zoom, phone). If you wish to schedule a remote appointment, have questions or need additional assistance, please call 208-885-6716 between 8 a.m. - 5 pm Monday through Friday.

The Latah Recovery Center is located just a few blocks off campus at Sixth and Main streets. They offer classes, meetings and other activities seven days a week. For more information, visit latahrecoverycenter.org or call 208-883-1045.

Real Life Ministries offers the Christian-based Celebrate Recovery program at 7 p.m. Fridays in Moscow. Visit projecthopeidaho.org for more information, or call 208-882-2484. In addition, there are many excellent private providers in the Moscow-Pullman area.

Freshstart is a nicotine cessation program offered by appointment via Zoom and is available to all students, faculty, and staff, including UI extension and all statewide U of I locations. This four-part class is geared to help participants increase their motivation to quit, learn effective approaches for quitting and guide them in making a successful quit attempt.

Register for Freshstart online. Please email us at aod@uidaho.edu if you are interested in a cessation class on campus, but are not able to attend the currently scheduled classes.

Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are offered near campus. Visit district22aa.org or call 208-882-1597 for more information.

Narcotics Anonymous offers a meeting four times a week in Pullman at newana.org.
