Arrive to the Kibbie Dome as early as possible. The closer it gets to the ceremony, the more crowded and potentially stressful the environment will be. Arriving early can help to alleviate stressful circumstances.
Yes, the Kibbie Dome will have a number of U of I student staff members on hand to assist with seating needs. Staff with be located at the South Concourse entrances wearing distinctive uniforms.
Yes, a limited number of wheelchairs are available to assist with guests reaching seating areas. However, due to the limited number, we are unable to provide wheelchairs for the duration of the service. If your mobility needs require the extended use of a wheelchair, please plan on bringing your own.
Yes, there are designated seating options available for the Winter and Spring Commencement Ceremonies.
Platforms are set aside for wheelchairs and their attendants located above sections #3 and #9. Access to these areas is carried out via the Southwest (SW) Concourse entrance for Section #3 and #9. The platforms will be restricted to individuals in a wheelchair and their attendant.
Platforms are set aside for wheelchairs and their attendants located above sections #9 and #20. Access to these areas is best carried out via the Southwest (SW) Concourse entrance for Section #9, and the Northwest Concourse for Section #20. The platforms will be restricted to individuals in a wheelchair and their attendant.
Due to safety concerns, this is generally not allowed. U of I – Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) will provide a drop off area as close to the doors as possible. Additional shuttle assistance will be available to take your relative to the appropriate door for the Kibbie Dome. The PTS Attendant will do their best to assist you. After dropping your relative off, you will need to return and park your car in the designated parking lot located on the west side of the facility.
U of I – Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) will make every effort to have a cart shuttle service operating from the designated drop off area to the appropriate entrances prior to the event. Please visit U of I – Parking and Transportation Services website at uidaho.edu/parking for additional details.
There will be signs posted around the facility with information about where each college is located. Be sure to find out what college your graduate will be seated with.
U of I – Parking and Transportation Services will attempt to accommodate all visitors displaying a legal Handicapped Parking Tag in specially designated parking areas. However, due to space limitations, these spaces will be available on a first come, first to be served basis. Each college will have a designated reception at an separate location. For a list of locations, please see the Commencement website. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide wheelchairs for events located outside of the Kibbie Dome. Our staff will make every effort to assist patrons as they exit the facility after the event.
