TRIO-INSPIRE outreach and engagement projects
Benewah Latah Upward Bound provides college preparatory support and guidance to students from groups that are traditionally underrepresented in postsecondary education. We are dedicated to working with its scholars to develop into their full potential as the future stewards of the community, our nation and are interconnected world. Services include tutoring, counseling, mentoring, summer courses and financial literacy training. We strongly encourage all participants to actively engage in as many of these activities as services as possible. We serve students at Lakeside High School in Plummer, Idaho and Potlatch JR/SR High School in Potlatch, Idaho.
The Educational Talent Search program identifies and assists eligible Kootenai County youths in sixth through 12th grades who have the potential to succeed in higher education, but because of their individual circumstances would likely not pursue postsecondary education. The program provides academic, career and financial counseling to its participants and encourages them to graduate from high school and continue on to and complete their postsecondary education.
Thinking about going back to school, upgrading your skills, or completing a technical career training program? The Educational Opportunity Center can help you form realistic educational goals and identify programs that match your needs. Our advisors can assist with:
- Obtaining your GED or High School Completion
- Exploring careers
- Comparing programs and schools
- Completing admissions and enrollment requirements
- Identifying and filling out financial aid forms and verification paperwork
- Defaulted student loan counseling
- And more!
We are here to make furthering your education attainable for you, and because we are funded by a federal grant, all of our services are free. The primary goal of EOC is to increase the number of adults 19 and older enrolled in educational and career programs after high school. In some instances, EOC may serve individuals younger than 19, such as individuals who have enrolled in alternative education programs.
The Educational Opportunity Center is based out of the University of Idaho Boise Center, and is funded to serve Ada and Canyon County. Contact the Educational Opportunity Center.
Silver Valley Upward Bound is committed to ensuring that each student is provided with quality opportunity in education that allow for development of character and leadership skills that will prepare him or her for success in high school and college. Our mission is to assist low-income, first generation, college-bound students in the Silver Valley, which includes Kellogg and Wallace high schools.
The project connects students in the Lewis-Clark Valley with college and careers, especially in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
We provide information, individual services, field-trips and campus experiences to support the path of our students all the way through high school to college. We work with students in Lewiston, Clarkston and Asotin school districts throughout their high school career on college preparation and support.
The Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program is a comprehensive program structured to prepare undergraduates for successful careers as graduate students, professors and professional researchers. At the University of Idaho, the McNair Program will provide services to at least twenty-five students each year.
All students participate in academic year and summer graduate preparatory activities until they graduate and enroll in a doctoral program. TRIO McNair Scholars are motivated students who have both the desire and the potential to earn a doctorate degree. Scholars participating in the program increase and refine their academic skills and learn the tools necessary to be successful in graduate school.
