Idaho Clean Snowmobile Team Placed Fourth in National SAE Challenge

The University of Idaho College of Engineering's Idaho Clean Snowmobile Team earned fourth place overall in the gasoline spark-ignited class at the 2020 Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Clean Snowmobile Challenge held March 9-14. The U of I team competed against 23 teams across the U.S. and Canada in a weeklong challenge to produce innovative solutions to make cleaner, quieter and more efficient snowmobiles that are practical for manufacturers and enthusiasts alike. Doctoral Student Earns Women in Transportation SW Idaho Leadership Scholarship

Engineering doctoral student Nuzhat Yamin is the winner of the $1,500 Women in Transportation (WTS) SW Idaho Leadership Scholarship. Yamin will advance to the national scholarship competition for a chance to earn $5,000. WTS awards scholarships to women pursuing careers in transportation through an undergraduate or graduate program. Awards are based on transportation goals, academic standing and demonstration of skills and abilities in leadership. Read more

Engineering and Business Students Win $10,000 at the Hollomon Health Innovation Challenge

Student entrepreneurs won second place and $10,000 after pitching CatheterX, a multi-channeled, spiral-designed urinary catheter. Their unique design decreases the number of catheter-related infections, saving thousands of lives while reducing costs for hospitals. CatheterX started as a senior project with Edward Hall, Elena Tipton and Amy Macias in the College of Engineering. Read more
