Professor Gabriel P. Potirniche Named New Chair of Department of Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering Professor Gabriel P. Potirniche will begin his position as chair of the University of Idaho College of Engineering Department of Mechanical Engineering on Sunday, June 28. Potirniche was recently promoted to full professor in mechanical engineering at U of I. He received his doctorate from Mississippi State University and joined U of I in 2007 as an assistant professor. He teaches and performed research in computational solid mechanics. Read more

Virtual Engineering Design EXPO Welcomes K-12 Across Three Countries

This year’s virtual Engineering Design EXPO had more than 14,000 unique visitors log on to explore capstone projects, and judges scored 41 virtual capstone presentations during 20 hours of simultaneous Zoom sessions. This year’s virtual K-12 program, the EXPO Extended Experience, welcomed fifth through 12th graders to participate in hands-on activities and submit completed projects to win prizes and a $4,000 U of I scholarship.
