Employees’ Charitable Giving Campaign
Each October, the University of Idaho joins a statewide campaign to raise funds for nonprofit organizations in our area.
The Idaho Employees’ Charitable Giving Campaign is the way that we, as state employees, collectively show our commitment to our state. In 2016, the campaign raised more than $250,000 to support nonprofits across Idaho.
Employees can participate online at unitedwecare.idaho.gov or by submitting a paper pledge form. Pledges to UI’s campaign coordinator Savannah Tranchell at MS 3221 or via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. They are collected and turned in to Payroll Services and the Latah County United Way office at the end of the campaign.

Frequently Asked Questions
Each October, the state of Idaho encourages all state employees to give back to their communities through participation in the Idaho State Employees’ Charitable Giving Campaign. This is a voluntary event, and the University of Idaho is proud to participate. The campaigns are run by volunteers at each state agency, with donations processed through local United Way offices.
You may choose to donate to any registered 501(c)3 organization, regardless of whether they are affiliated with our local United Way office. Just fill in the agency name on your pledge form and include the address if it’s not local. United Way of Moscow/Latah County will send your donation to the agency you specified.
No, you do not. You can use the online pledge form at unitedwecare.idaho.gov to make your donations via credit card or turn in a pledge form with a check for a one-time donation. However, by using payroll deduction, you can spread out your donation through the number of pay periods you choose. You can make either a one-time gift or a recurring donation that comes out of your paycheck automatically.
Simply put, efficiency. Payroll deduction pledges allow charities to forecast income for the entire year. United Way makes pledge information available to agencies at the conclusion of the state’s annual campaign. Bundling multiple contributions into a single payment to the various charities reduces the amount of time and money the charities would otherwise spend processing individual donations.
Yes! The University of Idaho has several 501(c)3s, including the UI Foundation and Vandal Scholarship Fund. You may designate them as the recipient of your donations.
Yes they are. You can deduct all of your donations to this campaign from your tax return.
You can donate online or download a pledge form at unitedwecare.idaho.gov or pick up a pledge form from UI campaign coordinator Savannah Tranchell at any of our campaign events. Pledge forms need to be returned to Savannah Tranchell by Oct. 31. You can send them to MS 3221, stop by Mary Forney Hall Room 217, or email a scanned copy of your form to email@example.com.
UI receives generous support for the Idaho Charitable Giving Campaign from the Office of the President, Best Western Plus University Inn, Latah County United Way, Vandal Athletics, Vandals Dining by Sodexo, and Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. It is through the support of these generous donors that the campaign is able to offer prizes to those who donate.
