International Student Scholarships

The International Programs Office provides awards to U of I students who study abroad as well as International students attending the University.

Specific scholarships are awarded through the International Programs Office. Please contact IPO should you have questions about these scholarships.

Discover Idaho International Tuition Waiver

All qualified, NEW, incoming students are guaranteed to receive this tuition waiver. This waiver is renewable if a 2.5 cumulative University of Idaho GPA is maintained.

There are two categories:

New Freshman International Students

Incoming GPA from High School

Level of Funding

3.9 - 4.0 $8,000 tuition waiver
3.75 - 3.89 $6,000 tuition waiver
3.4 - 3.74 $5,000 tuition waiver
3.00 - 3.39 $2,000 tuition waiver

New Transfer International Students

Incoming GPA from College

Level of Funding

3.8 - 4.0 $4,000 tuition waiver
3.6 - 3.79 $2,500 tuition waiver

Take advantage of external resources such as non-University of Idaho specific scholarships. It pays to search and apply. Any extra resource you bring in can help pay for the great education offered at the U of I.

Although you are automatically considered for any university-based scholarships for which you are eligible, we highly recommend that you consider additional sources of funding. Speak with your guidance counselor and check with family employers, credit unions, churches and other community organizations to see if they offer scholarships. Financial aid has a resource center located inside the financial aid office in The Pitman Center. You will find documents relating to other aid options, including a large list of outside scholarships. You may also find some of the following links helpful.
