U of I Inspires First Generation Student
Frederick Olmos Ceja is first-generation college student who through the use of scholarship assistance has been able to live his academic dream.
“The scholarships I’ve received have allowed me to continue my studies and finish both of my degrees from the University of Idaho,” Ceja said. “Without that support, I don’t think I would have been able to afford to attend a four-year university.”
When Ceja began at UI, he didn’t really have anyone to look up to for guidance on how to navigate a four-year university. Through the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP), a federal funded program that aids student with transitioning into a college life style, Ceja was able to go to college fulltime and succeed.
“The UI has opened so many doors for me,” he said. “They’ve given me the tools that I need in order to take on any challenge.”
