My name is Meredith Bishop and you inspire my future.
I have always had an interest in human behavior and interactions. I recently had a summer internship opportunity at the Division of Behavioral Medicine and Clinical Psychology at Ohio’s Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. I did research on behavioral interventions for obese preschoolers, adolescents with migraines and children with cystic fibrosis. At that moment, I discovered my passion. I want to work with children suffering from chronic illnesses or obesity.
These influential research experiences, my experiences in the university’s honors program, and the faculty in the psychology department who are truly invested in their students’ futures, have inspired me to pursue a doctoral degree in pediatric clinical psychology. The small class sizes, strong faculty mentoring, and excellent advising have encouraged my interest in human behavior.
I have been lucky enough to receive several scholarships including the Presidential Scholars Award, the Phil Mohan Award for Academic Excellence, and the Honors tuition waiver. To help pay for my education, I also work as a research assistant in the Idaho Child Safety Lab and I work at the Idaho Commons.
Your gift to scholarships makes it possible for me to focus on my passion for working with children. Scholarships help me cover the costs of tuition and books and inspire me to excel in my education and goals for the future. Please take a moment to continue your tradition of giving and make a donation today.
P.S. Giving to psychology and communication studies helps students like me focus on our passions.
