The state of Idaho is facing a physician shortage. Unfortunately, community doctors earn about $60,000 less than the national average. When coupled with a high debt load upon graduation, it’s easy to see why Idaho-trained physicians may choose to practice out of state.
Idaho WWAMI scholarships make medical education more affordable and amplify current efforts to keep our doctors practicing in the underserved areas throughout Idaho where they are trained. Scholarships can also attract more promising future physicians to our state.
