Enrollment Reminders

Prepare to Make Your Elections

Benefits Annual Enrollment is your once a year chance to enroll in or make changes to your benefits coverage for the upcoming year. Please consider the following important reminders as you enroll, re-enroll, change or waive coverage.

Enroll Early for a Chance to Win a Great Prize!

You’ll have a chance at winning a gift card for the VandalStore or another great prize. Drawings will be held each week during annual enrollment (Oct. 18 – Nov. 2). If you enroll the first week (Oct. 18 – 24) you will be entered into the first drawing. Subsequent drawings will include all employees who enroll during the first two weeks (Oct. 18 – 31). This means if you enroll the first week of annual enrollment, you will have at least TWO chances of winning!

If you are a full-time employee and you don't enroll by midnight, Pacific, November 2, 2021, you will continue to have the coverage you have today, but at 2022's coverage costs and with the 2022 benefit changes in place.  You will not contribute to a Health Savings Account (HSA), Flexible Spending Account (FSA), or Dependent Care Spending Account (DCSA), even if you contribute to one in 2021.

If you wish to waive coverage for 2022, you must submit proof of your other coverage each year.  Proof of other coverage must be received by Jan. 31, 2022 or you will be placed into default coverage.  Default coverage is the High Deductible Health Plan for employee only.  If you are placed into default coverage, your dependents won't be covered.  And, you can't enroll your dependents or make coverage changes until the next Annual Enrollment or until you have a qualifying event.

Annual election is required each year for you to participate in an HSA, FSA, or DCSA.  Prior elections DO NOT roll over, you must re-elect to contribute.  The amount you elect to contribute is the annual amount not the per pay amount.  The myBenefits system will automatically adjust to reflect your per pay amount.

To enroll, re-enroll, change or waive coverage, log in to VandalWeb > Employee Menu > myBenefits.  Complete the Annual Enrollment event and upload any required documentation noted when you finalize the event.  Access a tip sheet for assistance in uploading the required documentation and a list of acceptable documentation.

If you are less than full-time, you must re-enroll in order to have coverage in 2022. If you do not re-enroll, you will lose coverage for 2022.

If you wish to waive coverage, proof of other coverage is not required. By default, you will be placed into waived coverage if you do not make a benefit election. You can't enroll your dependents or make coverage changes until the next Annual Enrollment unless you have a qualifying event.

If your spouse is also a university employee, you, your spouse and eligible children cannot be double covered under both spouses. You and your spouse may elect your own coverage or one of you can waive coverage to be covered on the other's plan.

To waive coverage, complete the Annual Enrollment event by logging in to VandalWeb > Employee Menu > myBenefits and selecting waived coverage.

Once you have completed the Annual Enrollment event, email benefits@uidaho.edu your:

  • Spouse's full name
  • Spouse's Vandal ID
  • Your Vandal ID

No other proof of other coverage documentation is needed.

If you are a temporary employee who meets the eligibility requirements under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), you may enroll in a university medical plan at full plan cost.  Under the ACA, only you and your eligible children can be covered; not your spouse or any other eligible adult.
