If your legal name has changed (the name on your driver's license or Social Security card) you will need to update your record with University of Idaho. The required steps and department that will process the change may be different depending on your affiliation with the university.
To ensure the correct reporting to the IRS and Social Security Administration for tax purposes, employees who have a legal name change with the Social Security Administration will need to update their name with Payroll Services by filling and submitting the Employee Name Change Request form.
Please note, if you are a student-employee any change submitted to Payroll will be forwarded to The Office of the Registrar. You do not need to submit the change to the Registrar as well.

The University of Idaho provides students and employees with a self-help option for indicating their preferred first name. The provided name will be used in place of the person's legal first name across several (but, not all) of the university's systems and business processes.
