Minimizing Unconscious Bias in Recruitment and Hiring Training
Each time you make a decision, your social background, personal and cultural values, and life experiences influence your reasoning. This is beneficial for helping you make day-to-day choices, but in recruitment and hiring it can lead to unconscious bias, also known as implicit bias. Developing strategies for avoiding the pitfalls of unconscious bias is crucial for fostering equity and inclusivity in the U of I community.
The Office of Workforce Diversity is pleased to announce the availability of “Minimizing Unconscious Bias in Recruitment and Hiring, a companion tutorial to the online University of Idaho Search Committee Training. The new tutorial focuses on identifying various avenues whereby unconscious bias can enter the hiring process and developing strategies to avoid bias in all steps of the hiring process.
