University of Idaho College of Engineering graduate student John Peterson and materials science and engineering senior James Zillinger were awarded Innovations in Nuclear Technology Research and Development Awards sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Nuclear Technology Research and Development. The program recognized 25 students in 2019 for publications relevant to innovative nuclear technology. Read more

Idaho Falls Professor Collaborates on Patent for Large Geographical Power Systems Stability

Dakota Roberson, assistant professor in the College of Engineering at University of Idaho, Idaho Falls, was recognized as co-inventor on a recent patent issued to the University of Wyoming. The patent gives both universities a new real-time reconfiguration method for use in large power systems, improving the ability to compensate against large electric power flow changes brought on by intermittent disturbances or even cyberattacks. Christensen Receives Grant for Nuclear Plant Control Room Simulator

Richard Christensen, director of Nuclear Engineering at the University of Idaho, Idaho Falls College of Engineering, in collaboration with professors Robert Borrelli, Michael Haney and Michael McKellar, was recently awarded a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to support the installation of a NuScale reactor plant simulator.
