Adjunct Job Description

Employment Status: Part-Time, Temporary

Salary Range: Varies based on assignment, but generally $2,000 per credit per semester. Courses generally range from 1 to 4 credits.

Location: 875 Perimeter Drive, Moscow, Idaho or 514 W. Jefferson St., Boise, Idaho

The University of Idaho College of Law is a public law school that emphasizes quality over quantity. With an average enrollment of about 300 students, we guarantee the personal attention each student deserves. Students have the option to complete all three years at either our Moscow or Boise location.

This is an open invitation to apply for the College of Law’s Part-Time Instructor Pool. The College of Law maintains a pool of qualified individuals who would like to provide instruction to law students, either in Moscow or in Boise. At this time, there may not be an immediate vacancy, but qualified candidates will be contacted when specific needs arise.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach assigned courses as specified in the schedule and course contract.
  • Evaluate and select texts and instructional materials; prepare course materials and lesson plans.
  • Provide students an approved syllabus that includes course objectives and learning outcomes, teaching methodology, attendance policies in line with those of the institution, texts and readings, assignments and deliverables, timelines, and evaluation criteria.
  • Where appropriate, use the institution’s learning management platforms (BBLearn) to post syllabi, assignments, and other material and to communicate with students.
  • Deliver course content using a variety of teaching styles and provide interesting and engaging assignments that demonstrate the real-world applications of concepts covered.
  • Maintain records of enrollment and attendance; submit class rosters and grade sheets by the deadlines established by the institution.
  • Review adjunct faculty handbook and attend one or more orientation session(s) to become familiar with the institution’s mission and teaching philosophy, policies and procedures, and the learning management system.
  • Meet with the Associate Dean for Faculty Development as needed to discuss all aspects of the course, including student progress and curriculum development.
  • Adhere to University policies and guidelines in all matters concerning academics and student and staff conduct.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • J.D. degree.
  • Current knowledge of relevant subject area.
  • Demonstrated evidence of teaching potential.
  • High level of professionalism.

    Desired Job Qualifications:

  • Prior teaching experience.
  • Practice experience relevant to subject area.
  • Experience with instructional technology.
  • Skill in teaching a diverse student body with various learning styles.
