What advice would you offer to incoming 1L Law Students?
Welcome to law school! It an exciting and simultaneously nerve-rack time for you. My best advice is to just dive in!!! Do the best you can, take every opportunity to learn, and put your “best self” forward. Take advantage of meeting all the awesome people in your class. Embrace this journey!!!
Why did you choose the U of I College of Law?
Ultimately it was a financial decision for me. The in-state tuition is awesome! Plus, I think I may end up in Boise and want the networking and alumni connections. The vast majority of attorneys in town are alumni and happy to help a fellow Vandal.
Why do you want to be an attorney?
So many reasons… the biggest one is probably that I wanted to help people. I know it’s cliché and everyone says that, but after undergrad I took some time to reflect on my strengths and interests and decided that this career path was the best way for me to make a difference.
What has been your favorite course or who has been your favorite professor since starting your legal education?
I enjoyed Civil Procedure with Professor Henderson and Tort with Professor Cover. Both are brilliant people with impressive backgrounds. I have found that these classes are most applicable in my summer internship.
Which College of Law student organization stands out to you and why?
Student Bar Association! I joined SBA as 1L representative last year. It has been a great way to meet other students and be involved in student leadership.
Which student services office has been particularly helpful?
Administration office with Janet Weybright. She is the light of the ILJLC and a fantastic person. Whether it’s borrowing a stapler or reviewing my final exam, she is awesome.
What is your favorite Moscow/Boise recommendation?
Wylder! A fun restaurant with amazing food and drinks. The Honey Badger might just be my favorite pizza in Boise.
Give one “fun fact” about yourself
I lived in Thailand for a year after graduating college and taught high school English.
