Open Call for GIS Day Presenters, Exhibits, Posters Until Nov. 1

October 09, 2019

The U of I GIS Day Planning Committee is soliciting presenters for short talks, exhibits and posters for the annual event taking place 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, in the Crest/Horizon Rooms in the ISUB. Submit GIS Day presentation proposals through the online form by Nov. 1. GIS Day at the U of I is a free event that brings together scholars, students, professionals, businesses and the public to discuss geospatial technologies and demonstrate their many uses. A special daylong workshop, "Machine Learning in ArcGIS Platform," led by keynote speaker Orhun Aydin, follows from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14, at the University of Idaho Library. See GIS Day event information and the schedule.

GIS Day includes two opportunities for presentations in 2019:

  • Short talks – Ten-minute presentations highlighting GIS-related work, project, organization or research. Short talks will take place during two time slots, 10:40-11:40 a.m. or 2:40-3:40 p.m.
  • Posters and digital exhibits – The poster session will take place over lunch, 11:45 a.m. to 12:50 p.m., with free pizza. Traditional academic posters or digital exhibits are both acceptable. Digital exhibits could be a website, app or GIS-related digital project that can be exhibited on a laptop during the session (projectors and screens are not provided this year).

As a bonus this year, all presenters will be entered to win one of five individual ArcGIS for personal use licenses, valued at $100.
