Ali Carr-Chellman Named AECT President

February 06, 2020

Ali Carr-Chellman, dean and professor of education in the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences, was elected as the president-elect designee for the Association of Educational Communications and Technology (AECT). AECT is an international professional organization focused on improving learning. Members serve universities, military, industry, museums, libraries and hospitals as instructional designers, researchers, professors, teachers and educational technologists. Dean Carr-Chellman, elected Feb. 1, will plan the international conference in 2021 and will assume the presidency in 2022.

AECT is considered a global advocate for improving instruction and is “the most widely recognized source of information concerning a wide range of instructional and educational technology.”

AECT is the oldest professional home for instructional designers with 10 divisions, a graduate student assembly and a wide variety of journals including Educational Technology Research and Development.

“It is my honor and distinct pleasure to serve my disciplinary home as a leader and advocate for the improvement of human learning,” said Carr-Chellman. “I look forward to working with the board and established leadership at AECT to extend, distinguish and renew the organization that has come to mean so much to me as a scholar.”
