Jon Van Gerpen Receives 2018 Moscow Mayor's Earth Day Award

On April 16, 2018, Professor Emeritus Jon Van Gerpen was presented with the 2018 Moscow Mayor's Earth Day Award as an individual who fosters environmental sustainability. Van Gerpen is a leader in the research and development of biodiesel, a renewable fuel made from vegetable oils and animal fats which can run diesel engines. Van Gerpen is part of the Biodiesel Education Program, which also received a Mayor's 2018 Earth Award. The Biodiesel Education Program makes biodiesel right here on campus from waste oil gathered at the Sodexo kitchens.
