Manager of World’s Largest Non-Military Drone Fleet Speaks April 26 in Moscow

April 15, 2019

MOSCOW, Idaho — April 15, 2019 Mark Bathrick, manager of the U.S. Department of Interior’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) program, will speak at 2 p.m. Friday, April 26, in the Vandal Ballroom of the Bruce M. Pitman Center on the University of Idaho’s Moscow campus.

His speech is free and open to the public as part of the U of I College of Engineering’s Engineering Design EXPO.

Bathrick has overseen more than 19,000 drone flights for the UAS program, the world’s largest non-military drone fleet. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with an aerospace engineering degree. Bathrick’s speech will cover how thinking like an engineer can lead to a successful career and a more fulfilling life.

“I still feel very lucky to get to be part of fun, cool things,” Bathrick said. “Nothing against lawyers or other professions, but engineers get to be part of something that stays, is physically tangible and benefits many people.”

A complete schedule of Engineering Design EXPO events is available at uidaho.edu/expo.

Note to media: Bathrick is available for interview upon request.
