April 22, 2019
MOSCOW, Idaho — April 22, 2019 — Gesture-controlled robotics, 3D printing using living cells and virtual reality featuring evolving aliens are just a few of the 50-plus research projects on display during the University of Idaho’s 2019 Engineering Design EXPO.
Hosted by the U of I College of Engineering, the 26thannual EXPO will be held 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 26, in the Bruce M. Pitman Center on the Moscow campus. This event is free and open to the public.
The longest-running student engineering innovation showcase in the Pacific Northwest, EXPO highlights senior projects from the U of I College of Engineering’s senior capstone program, recognized by the National Academy of Engineering as one of the best in the nation. Projects focus on undergraduate research toward solving real-world problems.
“Over the years, EXPO has grown in significance, bolstering our educational process and our student’s development,” said Larry Stauffer, dean of U of I’s College of Engineering. “The event brings together K-12 students, industry leaders and community members and gives our students an opportunity to present the future they hope to create as engineers.”
This year’s keynote speaker is Mark Bathrick, manager of the Unmanned Aircraft Systems program in the U.S. Department of the Interior. He will speak at 2 p.m. Friday, April 26, in the Vandal Ballroom of the Bruce M. Pitman Center.
