Academic Standing
Academic standing for students is determined with a combination of the institutional cumulative and semester GPA each semester after final grades are posted. Academic standing rules are different for Undergraduates, Graduates and Law students. Students should contact their Dean's Office if they need assistance or have questions about their academic standing.
The following explain the rules for each level:
Undergraduates
Good Standing
Students with an institutional cumulative GPA of 2.00 or higher.
Academic Probation
Students with an institutional cumulative GPA below 2.00*. Students on probation need to complete an academic plan with their academic advisor and/or dean. The academic plan is included with the probation letter.
Academic Disqualification
Students on probation who earn a semester GPA below a 2.00 and their institutional cumulative GPA is also below 2.00. Disqualified students are not eligible to continue taking classes at the university without being reinstated by their academic dean.
*First semester students earning an institutional cumulative GPA below 1.00 will be placed directly on disqualification. Disqualified students are asked to take a semester off from the university. Disqualified students living in university housing, must make arrangements for move-out with University Housing.
Graduates
Good Standing
Students with an institutional semester and cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher.
Academic Probation
Students earning an institutional semester or cumulative GPA below 3.00.
