Application Process

What to submit:

  1. Application Form
    To apply to our program, use this online application form. Once you have submitted the application form, a copy of it will sent to you by email confirming your submission. If you do not receive an email confirmation or you are having other problems with the submission of your application, you can send the copy of the application directly to
  2. Personal Statement
    Write a two-page (double-spaced) statement that provides a portrait of who you are as a student. Describe your research interests and goals. Be very specific about your career objectives and how participation in this REU program will help you achieve those objectives. Tell us what motivates you to conduct research. Let us know why you feel you are particularly qualified for this REU program. Provide details of any experiences that you feel are relevant to your application.
    Note: This personal statement should be submitted as a PDF document at the end of the online application.
  3. Transcripts
    An unofficial or official copy of your most recent college transcript and a list of current courses should be included with your application (please include transcript and personal statement in one email).

  4. Letters of Recommendation
    Request two letters of recommendation from instructors who can best evaluate you. Our preferred method of receiving these letters is from the instructors themselves (forward the on-line submission form to instructors). Alternatively, you may upload the letters yourself at the end of the application form.

When to Submit:

The application deadline is Friday, February 15, 2021. Applications will no longer be accepted after 11:59 p.m. (PST) on Friday, February 15, 2021.
