Financial Aid
Most of our graduate students are supported as teaching assistants in their first year, although a first-year student may occasionally be granted support in the form of a research assistantship.
Teaching Assistantships
Starting Fall 2018, teaching assistants will be paid $18,000 for the ten-month teaching year, and a $1,000 scholarship, plus premiums for the Student Health Insurance Program will be paid for the year. The department supplements this with a summer scholarship of at least $3,000.00, bringing the total support for the year to at least $22,000.
The exact amount of an assistantship is set by the state legislature. In addition to this annual support, out-of-state tuition is waived, and we will pay all resident tuition and registration fees, which are currently set at $4,432.00 per semester.
