Dining

Welcome to Residential Dining!

Exciting changes are coming to our dining program this fall. The University of Idaho is launching a premier campus dining program emphasizing quality, made-to-order food, variety, value and forward-thinking sustainability programs.

Our residential meal plans offer flexibility and accept the use of "meal exchange,” providing more value, convenience and ease for residents to enjoy dining across the entire campus.

The current residential dining facility is transforming into “The Eatery at the Village.” Featuring nine distinct stations with a wide variety of offerings, residential students can expect quality meals made from scratch and an extensive allergen-friendly program.

Your dining experience is more than just food. It is a community experience centered on culinary expertise, fresh ingredients, healthy options and a shared sense of environmental and social responsibility.

Residential dining plans are chosen while you are completing your Residence Hall Application.

For more information about Idaho Eats please visit the Idaho Eats Website.

There’s a new dining experience coming Fall 2021!

The Hub will be transformed into The Eatery where food is the focus, supported by storytelling of local ingredients and innovative dining events. The Eatery at Vandals Village will feature seasonal and scratch made dishes at the following stations:

  • Rooted: a dedicated vegan and vegetarian station that serves all your favorite plant-based meals like buffalo cauliflower bites, mac + no cheese, sweet potato tacos and more!
  • G8: food free of the top eight major allergens (wheat, milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish, fish and soy) and offers Vandals crave-able, nutritious meals that are always safe for guests with allergies to eat.
  • Fresh 52:  Fresh salad bar, scratch-made soups, and Teaching Kitchens.
  • Stacked:  Made-to-order sandwiches
  • Student Choice: The Vandals have the power and flexibility to decide what’s on the menu!
  • Flame:  Customizable favorites off the grill!
  • Cucina: Hearth oven-baked classics
  • Sweet Shoppe: Desserts and sweet treats
  • Nook: All day essentials like bread, bagels, cereal, fruit and more!

Papa John’s in the LLC will be transformed into Pom and Honey, which will serve Mediterranean-style bowls, salads, and wraps utilizing locally grown produce from the Palouse region. During the evening, it will become Cravings by Joes and will offer late night bites, like classic pizzas, milkshakes and seasonal specials. Meal Exchange

The meal exchange program allows you to use a select number of meal swipes on your meal plan at various campus locations. The meal will be deducted from your total number of meals, rather than from your Dining Dollar balance, based on how many meal exchanges come with your plan. (For instance, there are 32 meal exchanges included on the Fuel Plate meal plan, meaning that 32 of the plan’s total 160 meals may be redeemed as meal exchanges). All meal exchanges include an entrée, side and drink. Meal exchanges may be used only once per meal period, and expire at the end of each semester.

Students can use their meal exchanges at True Burger, Qdoba, Einstein's, Pom & Honey, and the Market.

Unlimited Meals

Enter The Eatery as many times as you would like throughout the day.

Meals

A specific number of meals that can be used at The Eatery. One meal swipe equals one entry into The Eatery dining hall for an all-you-care-to-enjoy meal.

Dining Dollars

With the swipe of your Vandal Card, you can conveniently enjoy food across campus. Dining Dollars provide the flexibility to eat at a variety of campus dining and market locations, including Chick-fil-A, Einstein Bros. Bagels, and Qdoba!

Note: Unused dining dollars will roll over from fall to spring semester if the student purchases a residential meal plan through Housing & Residence Life for the spring semester. Dining dollars will not roll over if the student purchases an optional meal plan.

We strive to accommodate the full-spectrum of dietary needs and restrictions by providing daily rotating vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options as well as an allergen-conscious station free of the top eight food born allergens. We offer an allergen self-identification tool and an allergen-free station at the Eatery. If you have a dietary accommodation you feel cannot be met in the dining hall, please complete our Dietary Accommodation Form.

We are aligned with the University of Idaho’s Sustainability Center to incorporate sustainable practices into all programs, reduce our ecological footprint and foster a culture of environmental consciousness. Vandals Dining’s Better Tomorrow Sustainability Plan focuses on climate action, waste minimization, resource stewardship and sustainability education.

2021-2022

Students have until June 1, 2021 to select their residential dining plan using the Residence Hall Application or they will be assigned the "Meal Master" plan automatically. Students can still change their meal plan selection until August 27, 2021.

To change your meal plan please use our online meal plan request form.

Lifestyle Meal Plans are perfect for students living off-campus or students living on-campus who are not required to have a meal plan.

Students who are required to have a meal plan must select a Residential Meal Plan.
