Coming Fall 2020!

Housing works closely with many colleges and programs on campus to provide unique living communities focused on bringing the learning environment into the living environment.  Explore the options below to choose your new home.

Area of Study Communities

Students living in these communities must have a major related to the academic focus of the community.

Make Friends! Become part of a community where students share common academic and extracurricular interests. Get Acquainted! Learn from CALS students, faculty and college staff during our events and floor activities. Build Success! Gain access to our student success programs and resources available to you as a CALS student.

Ballard 4th Wallace Residence Center

Get the ultimate liberal arts experience by joining the only living community exclusively made for students in the College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences. Explore what it is to think, create and act in the world through exclusive academic, career and social experiences with students pursuing similar interests.

Wallace Residence Center, Ballard 2nd

Live and learn with other students of natural resources! Join a community that shares your interests and love of the outdoors. CNR House residents often take the same courses, create study groups, attend events together and form life-long friendships.

LLC 5

Live and learn with students from the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences. Be part of a community with common majors, interests, and goals.  Our themed floor provides a stimulating intellectual and social atmosphere by offering events and support centered around building friendships with other students in your college, navigating your first year of school, and connecting with faculty and staff in EHHS.

Wallace Residence Center, Gooding 1st

A unique community that allows students to connect in social, educational, cultural and professional development activities within the Tower. The community also provides students study networks to help students achieve success in the classroom as residents are frequently are in the same courses.

Theophilus Tower on 7th & 8th

The WiiSE Hall gives students the opportunity to live, learn and experience college in a community passionate about education for women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Living in a community with other students in similar programs can be extremely rewarding!

U of I Program Communities

Students must be accepted into the related program to live in these communities.  Students in CAMP, Football or ROTC living areas may be reassigned to a different room within the community at the request of their program.

The College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) assists students who have qualifying migrant/seasonal farm work backgrounds by providing financial and academic support services.  Living with other students within the CAMP program ensures you will receive the best focused support to succeed at the University of Idaho.

Wallace Residence Center, Willey 2nd (male) & Willey 5th (female)

Maximize your Honors Program experience by living in an Honors residence community—McCoy Hall. Your floor mates will share your intellectual motivation as well as your quest for fun. Feel supported in your academic pursuits through in-house advising while also enjoy evening Fireside Chats hosted by professors, student club, and other activities.

Theophilus Tower on 10th & 11th

Are you a scholarship recruit or walk on player to the University of Idaho football team? Live with other football players within Willey 1st, 2nd or 3rd floor. Your coaches have the option to reassign roommate matches if they deem necessary.

Wallace Residence Center, Willey 1st, 2nd & 3rd (select suites)

Choose living spaces with others who are joining the University of Idaho ROTC program.  Live with those who have similar life goals and living habits. The United States Air Force, Army and Navy provide leadership training, coursework and preparation to enter service as a commissioned officer through the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC).

More Community Options

These living communities are open to anyone who agrees to the community expectations.

Gender-inclusive housing allows for same gender, opposite-gender or gender nonconforming students to live together, regardless of biological sex. This housing option provides an environment where housing is not restricted by traditional limitations of gender.

Designated suites in Wallace

Staying active keeps you connected!  The Intramural community encourages an active lifestyle through participation in recreational opportunities through team and individual activities. This community has partnerships with Campus Recreation and other campus entities to provide a sense of belonging that is centered on campus involvement, sports and recreation.  Students of all majors are welcome to live in this community.

Many students thrive in environments where people have different interests, hobbies and/or majors. Every residence hall has traditional communities.
