Student Media Students Earn SPJ Honors

Two reporters at The Argonaut student newspaper, senior journalism major Angela Palermo and first-year journalism major Cody Roberts, won first place in the Breaking News category for their coverage of anti-mask protests in Moscow in the Society for Professional Journalists (SPJ) 2021 Mark of Excellence Region 10 Awards. Their story will compete for the national award in that category. Read more

JAMM Sophomore John Webb Earns Top 10 Award in National Hearst News Competition

Broadcast journalism student John Webb placed ninth in a prestigious TV news competition that included the nation’s top journalism schools. Webb, a sophomore in the School of Journalism and Mass Media, was named among the top 10 finalists in the annual Hearst TV News Competition for his stories on the impact of COVID-19 shutdowns on schools and businesses in North Idaho’s Silver Valley. JAMM’s Dane Claussen Is Nominated for VP of International Scholars Organization

Dane S. Claussen, lecturer of strategic communications in the School of Journalism and Mass Media, is one of two official nominees for vice president of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC). AEJMC, with 4,000 members in 80 countries, is the primary U.S.-based professional organization for faculty and graduate students in journalism (on all platforms), mass communication, media studies, public relations, advertising and photojournalism. Kino Film Festival to be Livestreamed May 8

MOSCOW, Idaho — May 4, 2020 — The University of Idaho’s Kino Short Film Festival moves online with a livestreamed event 6 p.m. Friday, May 8, at kinofilmfest.org. The festival is free, but donations to the event support student filmmaking. Read more
